Privacy Policy for PaperNote Extension
Effective Date: 12/14/2025
This Privacy Policy describes how PaperNote ("we", "us", or "our") handles your data. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have complete control over your information.
1. Data Collection and Usage
We do not collect, store, or transit your personal data to our own servers or any third parties.
The extension operates entirely client-side within your browser.
Local Storage
We use local storage technologies to ensure the extension functions quickly and offline:
Browser Local Storage: Used to save your interface preferences (e.g., dark mode settings, font size, privacy mode).
Chrome Storage API: Used to securely store internal identifiers (such as the Google Drive file ID) needed for synchronization. This data never leaves your browser unless you explicitly choose to sync it via the features described below.
Google Drive Synchronisation
If you choose to connect your Google Drive account, the extension uses the Google Drive API to save a backup of your notes.
Where is it stored? The data is stored in the Application Data folder of your own personal Google Drive account. This folder is hidden from other apps and is only accessible by this extension.
Access: The extension only accesses files that it has created itself. It cannot read, modify, or delete any other files in your Google Drive.
Authentication: Authentication is handled securely via Google's OAuth2 service using the chrome.identity API. We never see or store your password.
Third Party Sharing
We do not share, sell, disclose your data to any third parties. Your data remains strictly between your browser and your personal Google Drive account.
